Early Super Bowl 59 Picks

Brad Pinkerton: Chiefs +750, BetMGM

Why are the Chiefs not the clear favorites to three-peat? Patrick Mahomes now has three rings in his five seasons as K.C.'s starting QB, and I'll bet on him every single time if you're not going to make him and the Chiefs heavy favorites.

Lucy Burdge: Lions +1200, BetMGM

The Lions were good enough to make the 2024 NFC Championship, and if they learn from their mistakes next season, I think this team has enough talent to win the Super Bowl. For the past two seasons, the Lions have felt like a team you shouldn’t count out and now they know they belong. Aiden Hutchinson even said Dan Campbell told the team they are going to the Super Bowl next year. "In our exit meetings the day after, he’s like, ‘We’re going to the Super Bowl next year. Screw it. I don’t care what it takes,'" he said. I believe Campbell, so I’m taking the Lions to win it all next season.

Dan Karpuc: Bengals (+1500, FanDuel)

With all of the hoopla surrounding the Chiefs and 49ers leading into Super Bowl 58, you might have forgotten about Joe Burrow, who spent most of last season recovering from a wrist injury that forced him out of action. Under his leadership, Cincinnati made the AFC Championship in 2022-2023 after losing in the Super Bowl the previous year and, most importantly, he showed the ability to lead the Bengals past Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. No other AFC QB has shown that ability.

While OC Brian Callahan was hired as the head coach of the Titans, HC Zac Taylor and DC Lou Anarumo will be back, most of the core will be back and the team will have about $70 million to rebuild the offensive line that has let Burrow down year after year. They’ll have to make a decision about re-signing Tee Higgins, but opting to let him walk in free agency and targeting another starting WR in the draft to go alongside Ja’Marr Chase might not be a bad decision.

Overall, this seems like a very solid value on a proven team that should re-tool and improve in the offseason. Most of all, their All-Pro caliber quarterback will be driven to prove himself after what was a disappointing year. When someone like Burrow is motivated with a chip on his shoulder, watch out.

Matt Horner: Jets (+2500, DraftKings)

At 25/1, I think the Jets are worth a dart throw before the offseason begins. I trust Aaron Rodgers to come back healthy, and just having him behind center for a team that won seven games last year makes me think they can at least push for the playoffs.

I am also thinking ahead here as to what the Jets might do this offseason to improve the team. The trade for Rodgers last year was a signal that they are all-in, so I expect them to make some moves here to help him out. The offensive line is not good, so some focus should be sent in that direction. Don't rule out a big trade either for a superstar-level player to shorten these odds before Week 1.

Super Bowl Winner Picks

The Super Bowl is the most watched sporting event in the United States, and as such, it is also the most wagered on event in the country. It's never easy to pick a winner and hit a Super Bowl future in advance, but you can do your research and make the most informed bet possible to cash in large at a nice plus money number. That's what we are trying to do here. Most Super Bowl winners are teams that you would expect to win the Super Bowl, and it isn't often we get a surprise team that actually wins it. We have had some great champions over the last 10 years or so.

The Seattle Seahawks in 2013 had the Legion of Boom. The New England Patriots in 2014 captured the crown with that amazing interception at the goal line. The Denver Broncos won it for Peyton Manning in his last year in the NFL in 2015. 2016 saw the Patriots come back from a 28-3 deficient to win the championship again. In 2017, the Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl. In 2018, the Patriots won it yet again with a very low-scoring 13-3 win. 2019 gave us Patrick Mahomes' first Super Bowl victory in his sophomore campaign. In 2020, Tom Brady and his new Tampa Bay Buccaneers won it all. In 2021, the Los Angeles Rams won it behind new QB Matthew Stafford and electric wideout Cooper Kupp. In 2022 and 2023, the Chiefs won back-to-back titles, giving Patrick Mahomes three Super Bowl rings in just five years as the Chiefs' starting QB in what is shaping up to be a legendary career.
