My Best Bet: Tennessee +4.5

The hype around QB Caleb Williams and my Chicago Bears has gotten completely out of hand, and I’d be shocked if much public money will be coming in on the Titans in this game. That being said, the spread has remained largely the same all summer, with very little movement in the market. The total moved from 43 to 43.5 shortly after opening, but since then, has also remained largely the same. The Bears went 7-10 last season but ended up with the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft thanks to a 2023 trade with the Carolina Panthers. Now with Williams under center, the public suddenly thinks they are immediately going to be contenders. I am not so sure.

Tennessee went 6-11 last season and decided they needed a new voice on the sideline, firing longtime head coach Mike Vrabel. New coach Brian Callahan comes in from Cincinnati, where he was responsible for much of the success QB Joe Burrow and the Bengals have had as their offensive coordinator. While QB Will Levis is raw and not polished like Burrow, it isn’t entirely out of the question that he can have success with a new offensive-minded head coach.

I will be monitoring this market leading up closer to kickoff, but I would anticipate the floodgates to open on Williams-inspired public bets as we draw near to kickoff. The sharps will almost certainly be on the Titans here, and I would guess the books will likely need them to cover as well.
