NBA Parlay Picks for Today: March 20

NBA Traditional Parlay

Blazers +12 vs. LAC | Pistons +10.5 vs. IND (DraftKings, +264)

For today's traditional parlay, we're going to back two of the bigger underdogs on the board today.

I don't anticipate Portland winning this game, but it can certainly cover +12. Deandre Ayton has turned a corner for the Blazers and has been putting up some huge numbers lately, averaging 26.8 points and 15.0 rebounds in March.

I like Ayton to have success against this L.A. team that has dropped four of its last five games and is playing a pretty uninspired brand of basketball at the moment. While the Clippers offense is still near the top half of the league over that span, its defense has dipped to 27th. Not to mention, the Clippers are 20th in rebounds and 18th in points allowed to opposing centers over their last five games. Ayton should be able to have a big enough impact to keep the Blazers within this number.

I may kick myself after the fact for taking this, but I like the Pistons +10.5 against the Pacers tonight. This is the start of a five-game road trip for Indiana with the Warriors, Clippers and Lakers on deck. I could see it overlooking Detroit seeing as it's already beaten the Pistons three times this season. The Pacers have also struggled to cover lately, going just 4-8 ATS in their last 12 games.

The Pistons aren't good by any means, but they are significantly better than they were in the early part of the season, especially on the defensive end. They rank No. 6 in defensive rating over their last five games and that should be enough to keep them within this number.

If you want to be on the safe side, consider taking an alt line for both games. Blazers +15 and Pistons +13.5 still gives you a decent +147 payout at DraftKings!

NBA Same-Game Parlay

Celtics 1H o60.5, Jaylen Brown 2+ 3s, Malik Beasley 12+ points (DraftKings, +320)

The Celtics got smoked by the Bucks back in January with Milwaukee leading 75-38 at the half. That's not going to be the case tonight with Boston back at home and revenge on its mind, which is why I like it to go over its team total in the first half.

In the month of March, Boston is averaging a league-leading 68.0 points in the first half at TD Garden and is top-four in field-goal (53.1%) and 3-point percentage (50.0%). Its offensive rating is nearly 10 points higher than the next-closest team and it has well surpassed tonight's first-half total in four of its last five games overall.

Brown has met this mark in seven of his last eight games and has hit at least two 3s in five of those. He's shot over 50% from deep in two straight games and will be facing a Bucks team that is giving up the third-highest 3-point percentage (39.6%) in the league over the last 10 games.

After three down games to start the month, Beasley is back to playing like his normal self. He's finished with 14, 11, 14 and 17 points in his last four games and is coming off an outing in which he was 5-for-8 from deep. For as good as the Celtics defense is, it's just 27th in points allowed to opposing guards over their last 10 games, giving up 70.4. With Giannis sideline tonight, other players are going to have to step up for Milwaukee and Beasley could easily be one of those guys.

NBA Parlay Promo Of The Day

DraftKings SGP Insurance: Kings -10.5, Raptors u110.5, Domantas Sabonis o15.5 Rebounds (+325, DraftKings)

I don't know how the Raptors are going to score tonight. They're without Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickly and Jakob Poeltl. Barnes, Barrett and Quickly are Toronto's top three scorers; with Poeltl, they combine for nearly 70 points per game. The Raptors have failed to top 104 points in three straight games and I don't see that changing tonight.

If Toronto isn't scoring, a blowout win is likely in the cards for the visiting team. The Kings offense has put up at least 120 points in its last three wins and scored 135 against the Raptors earlier this year. Toronto's defense can't stop anyone, giving up 118.0 points over its last five games and has only covered the spread in two of its last 10 games.

Meanwhile, BetQL tells us that Mike Brown is 23-2 ATS after failing to cover the spread in two or more consecutive games while coaching Sacramento. And would you look at that, the Kings are coming off two straight ATS losses.

Raptors center Kelly Olynyk has been getting destroyed on the boards, which is great news for Domantas Sabonis, who has finished with 15 or more boards in seven of his last nine games. He's averaging 16.7 rebounds in March with 28.6 potential rebounds per game.

What is a Parlay?

In the heart of the NBA action, there beats a thrilling beast called an NBA parlay. It's not your ordinary, single-game bet. It's like a high-wire act for your predictions, weaving multiple wagers from different games into one daring bet. Imagine picking the winners of three high-stakes matchups, the points each team will rack up, and maybe even a superstar like LeBron James exceeding his scoring average – all on the same ticket. If your instincts bullseye every call, the payout explodes, showering you with basketball bounty.

But hold your horses, this ain't no slam dunk guaranteed. Each leg of the parlay needs to win for the whole thing to cash out. One misstep, one buzzer-beater that shatters your prediction, and the entire parlay crumbles like stale confetti. So, while the potential rewards are juicy, the risk hangs heavy, making parlays a playground for seasoned bettors with nerves of steel and a deep understanding of the game.

What is a Same Game Parlay?

An NBA Same Game Parlay throws your regular basketball bet on steroids, focusing all your predictions on one game. Imagine combining bets on the winner, point spread, total score, and even individual player stats like Steph Curry draining six threes - that's what this thrilling wager is all about. Each prediction multiplies your potential payout, but just like dominoes, if one prediction falls, the whole parlay crumbles. While you can score big wins, the risk is just as hefty, so tread carefully, especially if you're new to the court-side betting scene.

Strategies for NBA Parlay Picks

Here are some strategies you can employ when making NBA parlay picks:

Keep it short and sweet: Start with 2-3 leg parlays. The more legs you add, the exponentially lower your chances of winning.

Focus on value, not just favorites: Don't just pile on heavy favorites. Look for underrated teams or props with good odds and strong justification.

Diversify your picks: Don't focus on the same games or markets. Spread your picks across different matchups and bet types (spread, moneyline, props) to mitigate risk.

Be mindful of correlations: Avoid picks that are highly correlated (e.g., both teams in the same game winning). A loss in one will sink the entire parlay.

Don't chase losses: Stick to your pre-determined budget and avoid trying to recoup losses with bigger parlays.

Shop around for lines: Different sportsbooks offer slightly different odds. Compare lines before placing your bet to maximize your potential payout.

Same Game Parlays: Correlate props within the same game for amplified payouts. For example, if you like team A to win and go over the points total, consider adding player props that align with those predictions (e.g., leading scorer on team A).

Hedging Parlays: Place a smaller bet against one leg of your parlay to potentially minimize losses or even guarantee a small profit if the rest of the parlay hits.

Live Betting: Use live betting to adjust your parlay strategy based on how games unfold. For example, if a team you picked to win falls behind early, you could hedge your bet by taking the other team to cover the spread.

Types of Popular Parlays

Standard Parlay: This is the classic, combining two or more individual bets (point spread, moneyline, totals, etc.) from different games into a single wager. The payouts increase with each additional leg added, but so does the risk, as all legs must win for the parlay to cash out.

Round Robin Parlay: This option allows you to create multiple smaller parlays from several individual bets. For example, with four bets, you could create six two-leg parlays and three three-leg parlays. The advantage is that even if you lose some legs, you can still win on some of the smaller parlays.

Teaser Parlay: This variant allows you to adjust the point spread in your favor on each leg by a certain number of points, usually 6 or 7. In exchange for these more favorable odds, the potential payout is lower than a standard parlay.

Pleaser Parlay: This is the opposite of a teaser, where you accept a less favorable point spread on each leg for a slightly higher payout. This can be beneficial when you're confident about certain outcomes and want to maximize your potential winnings.

Prop Parlays: These parlays focus solely on individual player or team performance props, like a triple-double for Nikola Jokic, a 30-point night for Jayson Tatum, or the Celtics grabbing over 45 rebounds. They offer an added layer of excitement and analysis within a game, but again, carry higher risk.

Can you Parlay Futures Bets?

Yes, you can parlay futures bets in many cases, but with some important nuances. The ability to parlay futures depends on the specific bets and sportsbook.

Most sportsbooks allow parlays between futures bets from different sports: For example, you could parlay the Golden State Warriors to win the NBA Championship with the Dallas Cowboys to win the Super Bowl.

Some sportsbooks restrict parlays to futures within the same sport: For instance, Caesars might not allow you to parlay the Lakers to win the NBA title with LeBron James to win MVP, as they're somewhat correlated events.

Correlated bets typically aren't allowed: Sportsbooks often won't let you parlay bets whose outcomes heavily influence each other. For example, betting on both an NFL team to win the division and its star quarterback to win MVP would likely be prohibited.
