The NBA Coach Of The Year Market Is Littered With Value

A wide-open field is full of value right now

Okay okay, I get it, we have a long way to go before we even see how rosters will shape up in the NBA. The offseason has still given us an idea of what teams could be competing for the best records in the league though, and when it comes to Coach of the Year, that's something that for the most part at least, matters a ton.

How about finding that value outside of the first couple of favorites though? This is the time to do it, although everything is priced with a nice return at the moment, which is great news for us.

Over at DraftKings, Celtics' coach Ime Udoka sits atop as the favorite, but at +700, that's a pretty nice price wouldn't you say?

Boston went out and addressed their two biggest needs, adding playmaking with Malcolm Brogdon, and another shooter with Danilo Gallinari. A better Boston team that just made the Finals is pretty realistic.

Taylor Jenkins and his Grizzlies already surprised the league last year, and at +1200 along with reigning winner Monty Williams, you'd have to expect another major jump from Memphis, and a 60-something win team in Phoenix for Williams to get back-to-back.

Williams feels a lot less likely than Jenkins at this point.

Ty Lue (+1300) is an interesting candidate though, with a Clippers roster that's expected to have both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard back in the lineup again, the last time they were both healthy LA went to the Western Conference Finals. That coupled with their second-best odds (+600) to win the title would make a more than comfortable bet right now.

Dallas' Jason Kidd and Minnesota's Chris Finch also come in at +1300, and both teams are expected to make a jump from last year's playoff successes.

Steve Kerr, Michael Malone, and Eric Spoelstra are all +1400, and if the Nuggets can finally stay healthy and have Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. around all season, Malone is the best bet out of that group.

In the end, there's value up and down the list as we sit here mid-summer. Malone will likely see his price drop if the Nuggets live up to what their potential is, so he might be worth jumping on before the season.

You also can't feel terrible about betting on a favorite at +700 though, so this is definitely a market to get involved with now before the books start to settle in on who really stands out.
